ESPN NFL: Favre dismisses report he will return (AP)

Favre is considering coming out retirement, according to an ESPN report Wednesday, July 2, 2008. The Packers' former quarterback retired March 6 after a 17-year career.

Brett Favre dismissed an ESPN report that he's considering coming out of retirement as "all rumor." Favre responded Wednesday to the ESPN report by telling his hometown newspaper Web site, SunHerald.com in Gulfport, Miss., that "it's all rumor." The paper reported that Favre sent a text message saying there's "no reason" for a media frenzy.

Former Chargers linebacker Steve Foley agreed Wednesday to settle his lawsuit against a police officer who shot him while off-duty two years ago and ended his pro football career. Foley's attorney, Harvey Levine, said the settlement was reached with Officer Aaron Mansker and his employer, the city of Coronado, before testimony resumed in a week-old civil trial in San Diego Superior Court.
